Prep & Care

Get the most from your tan

Before care

Exfoliate and Shave:
Exfoliate your skin the day before your spray tan (not the day of) to remove dead skin cells and ensure an even application. Focus on rough areas like elbows, knees, and ankles.
Shave at least 24 hours before your spray tan to avoid irritation.
Avoid Moisturizers, Oils, and Deodorants:
Do not apply lotion, oils, or deodorant on the day of your spray tan, as these can create a barrier that may affect the tan’s absorption.
Wear Loose Clothing:
Wear loose, dark clothing to your appointment to prevent friction on your skin that might rub off the tan.
Remove Makeup and Jewelry:
Arrive with clean skin, free from makeup, perfumes, and jewelry, as these can interfere with the tan.
Hydrate:
Drink plenty of water the day before to ensure your skin is hydrated for the best results.

After care

Wait Before Showering:
Wait at least 6-8 hours (or follow the recommended time based on your tanning solution) before showering to let the tan develop. Avoid sweating and swimming during this time.
Avoid Tight Clothing and Friction:
Avoid tight clothing or anything that could cause friction (like tight shoes) after your spray tan, as this can affect the outcome.
Use a Gentle, Hydrating Shower Gel:
When you do shower, use a gentle, sulfate-free body wash. Avoid scrubbing or exfoliating your skin for the first few days to keep your tan intact.
Moisturize Regularly:
Keep your skin hydrated with a good moisturizer to help maintain the tan and avoid it from fading prematurely. Look for products that are hydrating but not too oily.
Avoid Hot Water and Long Showers:
Hot water and long showers can strip the tan. Opt for lukewarm water and avoid extended exposure.
No Scratching or Exfoliating:
Try not to scratch or exfoliate your skin during the first few days after your tan to avoid removing the color.
Avoid Sweating:
Avoid heavy exercise or activities that will make you sweat, as this can cause the tan to streak.
Tanning Maintenance:
For the best tan longevity, moisturize daily, and consider using a gradual self-tanner to maintain your glow.
